Slot dimensions
| Slot | Width | Height | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
Featured artwork Single wide artwork showcase | 630px | any | Width must be exactly 630px. Height is free, so tall vertical pieces work. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3331215953 |
Artwork — main panel Main panel of a two-part artwork showcase | 506px | any | Pair with a 100px side panel at the same height. With the 8px gap between them the whole composition is 614px wide. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=748624905 |
Artwork — side panel Narrow companion panel | 100px | any | Match the main panel's height exactly or the two drift apart. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=748624905 |
Screenshot showcase One main cell plus three side cells | 506px | any | Four uploads in total. Cells are laid out for 16:9, the main cell carries the like and comment counts, and the showcase stays hidden unless the main cell is filled. Long images work here as well as in artwork showcases. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2525879588 |
Workshop tile One of five workshop showcase squares | 150px | 150px | Rendered at 119×119, but upload at 150×150 to avoid black edges. Steam stamps the game's icon into the lower-left corner of every tile. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1654040557 |
Workshop strip All five tiles as one continuous image | 750px | 150px | Five 150px squares side by side. Design here, then slice into five files. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2553148921 |
Workshop strip — long Five tall panels instead of five thumbnails | 750px | any | Same 750px width, height free. Steam's uploader rejects it, so the file is written first and its last byte patched before upload — that is the whole trick behind the long workshop showcases you see on profiles. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2174159512 |
Avatar Profile and friends list | 184px | 184px | Square. Upload larger and Steam downscales, but detail is lost in lists. steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2347274114 |

Common snags
How can artwork be thousands of pixels tall?+
Steam keeps the height you upload as long as the width matches the slot exactly. That is why 630px-wide artwork can run thousands of pixels tall.
Why does my GIF get rejected?+
Steam caps community image uploads at 5 MB, and that includes animated GIFs. Run it through the optimizer, drop the palette, and check the reported size before uploading.
Why is nothing showing up on my profile?+
Artwork and screenshot showcases only appear from level 10. You get one additional showcase slot every 10 levels after that.
Why do my two artwork panels not line up?+
The middle and side panels are separate uploads. They only align if their heights match exactly — a difference of a few pixels shifts one panel down.
Why do my workshop tiles have black edges?+
Steam renders those squares at 119×119 but expects a 150×150 upload. Supplying exactly 119px tends to leave dark borders, so export at 150.
Which file formats does Steam take?+
JPG, PNG, GIF for community images. Points Shop animated assets are separate: they need to loop and stay under 2 MB.
Does the builder upload anything for me?+
No. It produces correctly sized files that you upload to Steam yourself. Nothing you drop in leaves your browser.
Valve changes these layouts occasionally — the workshop showcase moved from four 150px squares to five 119px ones at one point. If an upload behaves unexpectedly, the numbers above may need re-checking against the linked sources. ArtworkLoop is not affiliated with Valve.
